I like your 'think decentralization'. Many of the web 2.0 sites I have viewed have not completely let go of the 'control' concept and therefore only allow a minimal amount of interactivity. From my marketing background I would say that the authors are scared of losing control over their branding by allowing others users to contribute to their sites or even link to outside sites.
